Agumbe
Agumbe Is a village situated in the Thirthahalli taluka of Shivamogga district, Karnataka, India. It is nestled in the thickly forested Malenadu region of the Western Ghats mountain range. Owing to its high rainfall, it has received the epithet of "The Cherrapunji of South India", after Cherrapunji, one of the rainiest places in India.
Agumbe is associated with rainforest conservation efforts, documentation of medicinal plants, tourism (trekking and photography), and the promotion of cottage industry. The Agumbe Rainforest Research Station was established as a sanctuary for the King Cobra, Agumbe's flagship species.
Jog falls
The second-highest plunge waterfall in India, Jog Falls is a major tourist attraction in Karnataka and is the highest waterfall in the state. Second, to the Nohkalikai Falls of Meghalaya, Jog falls drops about a huge 253 m (850 ft. ) in a single fall. However, due to the construction of Linganamakki Dam which is a hydroelectricity plant closeby, the flow in the falls is hugely restricted before monsoons.
Sirimane falls
Sirimane Falls Is near Sringeri, a revered pilgrim center, offers a serene retreat. . This village houses the scenic waterfalls, supplying water to coffee estates and paddy fields downstream. A nominal entry fee supports the well-maintained walkways, viewpoints, and a hydraulic power plant that illuminates Kigga's homes, managed by local authorities.
Kodachadri
Kodachadri A majestic mountain peak in the Western Ghats of South India, lies 78 km from Shimoga. Adorned with lush forests, it is the highest peak in Shivamogga district and the 13th highest in Karnataka. Recognized as a natural heritage site by the Karnataka Government, it captivates with its natural beauty.
Sringeri
Sringeri was the site of the first of the four Peethas (centers) established by the great sage Adi Shankaracharya, the founder of the Advaita philosophy. Sringeri has the Sharda Temple dedicated to Sharadamba, Goddess of Learning and Wisdom. The temple is famed for the matchless beauty of the idol.

Kodi Beach – 4 KM from Kundapura
Kodi beach is Kundapura’s main beach and very popular with locals. Kodi beach is where Panchagangavalli river joins Arabian sea. This is located about 4 KM (2.5 mi) from Kundapura. A well maintained sea walk lets people walk along the estuary into the ocean. Boating & Kayaking is also available in Kodi beach
Ottinene – 38 KM from Kundapura
This is a sunset point on the seashore, near Byndoor village on the national highway. Byndoor is a village near the sea.
Maravanthe – 18 KM from Kundapura
One of Karnataka’s most beautiful beaches. It is about 55 kilometres (34 mi) from Udupi. NH-17 runs right next to the beach and the Suparnika River flows on the other side of the road, creating a spectacular scenery and considered only one of its kind in India. The river Souparnika, which almost touches Arabian Sea here, makes a U turn and goes eastward to join the Sea only after a journey of more than 10 KM (6.2 mi), which is a geological wonder.
Light House
Light house at Kodi Beach – 4 KM from Kundapura
The Lighthouse is located at the Kodi Beach about 4 KM (2.5 mi) from Kundapura. It has a beautiful view from the top of light house with backwater view at one end and sea front at another. It is open to visitors between 4pm and 5pm. There is an entry fee of 10 INR per person + 20 INR extra if you are using camera (even mobile camera).
Temples
Anegudde Sri Vinayaka Temple, Anegudde – 5KM from Kundapura
ANNEGUDDE GANESHA TEMPLE at Anegudde, between Kota and Koteshwar towns. Among the several temples in Kumbhashi Anegudde, SriVinayaka Temple is the oldest, and it is also the most popular in this region. This Ganesh temple is on a small hillock, giving the name Anegudde, “Ane” meaning elephant and “Gudde” meaning a hillock.
Kamlashile Shree Durga Parameshwari Temple – 35KM from Kundapura
Kamalashile is surrounded by beautiful mountains and evergreen forests with the river Kubja flowing by the side of it.
Kamalashile is famous for its ancient Brahmi Durgaparameshwari temple located in heart of the village. The name Kamalashile takes after the stone Linga. Goddess Brahmi Durgaparameshwari is worshiped in the form of a Linga, which is said to be convergence of Goddesses Mahakali, Maha Saraswathi and Maha Lakshmi.

Guddattu Sri Vinayaka Temple – 17KM from Kundapura
Guddattu is a place of natural beauty. The History of Guddattu Sri Vinayaka Temple runs back for about 700 years. It is said that the three feet idol of Lord Vinayaka was emerged by itself near this rock. The black stone sculpture of Lord Ganapathi is in sitting posture. His trunk is towards the right, eyes and legs are clearly visible. The Temple is constructed here adjacent to a huge granite rock, which looks like a sleeping elephant.
The cave is always filled with water, and the devotees have to see the lord through a natural hole.
Kallu Ganapati, Padumundu, Shiriyara village – 22KM from Kundapura
A sculpture of Lord Ganapati carved out of a boulder is tucked in a cave at Padumundu, near Beloor and is regarded with wonder by many. The artistically sculpted temple of Lord Ganapati is of significant interest to visitors. It seems like a boulder from a distance but as one approaches it a sculptured temple of Lord Ganapati unfolds. The shrine is complete with Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvati and Lord Ganapati. The boulders are precariously placed on top of each other.
It is a mini monolithic sculpture erected in the empty space between boulders and mesmerizes the visitors with the mastery of sculpting involved. The visitors have to crouch down while circumambulating the deity. One can climb to the top boulder to get a magnificent view of pristine nature and the hidden treasures that Mother Nature has in store.
Cave Temple ~55KM from Kundapura
Lord Keshavanaatheshvara has his presence there in the form of “LINGA”.
That holy place is Sri Keshava Naatheshvara Temple Moodgallu. Surrounded by green forest and deep valley with scattered but thin population, the places are yet catch the glimpse of general public.The specialty of this cave temple is that the devotees are to stand in knee level water and to offer prayer. You will be astonished to see FISHES swimming and dancing near the feet as if they are conveying the message of GOD that you will kept happy and made free from all worries once you offer prayer here. The Shiva LINGA is placed on a platform with sufficient space for ARCHAK to perform pooja. That is at a distance of approximately 75 feet from the entrance. No illumination except the light lit for GOD. The water from the cave flows throughout the year.
In the evening the golden rays from the dipping sun falls on the SHIVA LINGA and gives an immense pleasure to the believers. This looks as if Lord Ravi is offering prayers before bidding farewell from his duty for the day.
Kollur Mookambika Temple – 40KM from Kundapura
Kollur is one of the Shakti Pithas established by Shankaracharya. Souparnika River flows here in the midst of dense forest. Kodachadri hill, with a height of about 3,800 feet (1.2 km) at the backdrop, is a suitable trekking spot. Trekkers can start trekking from Nagodi village near Kollur and reach Kodachadri peak after about three hours. Thick forest, sholas, grass lands, and cool air are a specialty of this place.
